Greasemonkey Scripts for Columbus Public Library Users

I’ve adjusted a couple of Greasemonkey scripts for users of the Columbus Public Library in Columbus, Georgia. They’re not quite perfect, so I haven’t submitted them to userscripts.org, but they’re good enough for my use.

The first is a book look-up for Amazon.com. When you go to a book’s page, it searches for it at the CPL. If they have it, it tells you. If they don’t, it does nothing.

The second is essentially the same thing for Netflix. Some drawbacks to this one: it doesn’t search for DVD’s only, and it hardly ever returns a useful result. It usually says either “More than 1 title found” or “Check for VHS”. I use it mostly as a reminder that it might be at the library.

If you have no idea what I’m talking about, there’s a few steps to using these.

  1. Get and install Firefox.
  2. Get and install Greasemonkey.
  3. Click on the scripts above.

If you’re not a from Columbus, there are plenty of library scripts at userscripts.org, or you can build your own.
